📢 Check out Sonar's latest updates: Feature Release Notes

Sonar Phone Overview: Browser Calling (WebRTC)

Sonar Phone is a browser-based softphone that allows you to make and receive calls directly from your computer. This article will explore the full feature set Sonar Phone offers.

What is a Webphone?

A webphone (or softphone) lets you make and receive calls directly from your browser using an internet connection—no desk phone required. With Sonar Phone, you get the full functionality of our mobile app on your Chrome browser, providing the flexibility to manage your calls from anywhere with internet access.

Why Use Sonar Phone?

Sonar Phone offers a flexible, professional calling solution without the need for physical hardware. Whether you're in the office or on the go, you can manage calls seamlessly while maintaining all the features of a traditional business phone system.

Getting Started

Before you jump on your Sonar Phone "device,"—there are a few browser settings to enable and permissions to accept.

Sonar (Web)Phone System Requirements

Your call quality will directly depend on your internet connection.

Sonar Phone Device Extension “101wp” for Call Queues and Long-Term Call Recording

Sonar Phone extensions must be added to Call Qeues to recieve incoming queue calls. The Sonar Phone (webphone) is an additional device extension, identified by the letters “wp” following your primary extension number.  For example, if Sam's primary extension is 101, then their Sonar Phone extension is 101wp—then 101 and 101wp must be added to the Call Queue, and Sam can choose which device to recieve their calls on.

Call recording is enabled per device, not extension. If you need call recording set up on your secondary devices (i.e., softphone or mobile app) please call our Support Team by dialing 611 from any net2phone Canada device.
